This book was chosen for Signed Signed Stories because it deals with dyslexia in a child-friendly, ‘safe’ and positive way. In the story, Tom explains that he is not as good at reading as his friends, and that he feels worried and afraid when he has to read aloud.

But through Tom’s story and familiar illustrations, we see that everyone has their own special talent, and sometimes you have to work a bit harder on the things you’re not very good at. This story is ideal for introducing dyslexia in the classroom.
