Rod Campbell sees himself as a 'maker' of children's books, using pop-ups and flaps to give extra dimension to simple stories - demonstrated beautifully in the classic Dear Zoo. Rod gave up a career in science to follow a love of art and designed toys and children's cards before moving into children's literature in 1980. Rod's use of interactive elements in early learning books including ABC Zoo and Farm Babies established his reputation for innovative books for under-fives.
