Teachers

The chief resource in Signed Stories is the stories themselves – available for you to watch online for free.

This section is designed to provide practical support to teachers, tutors and classroom assistants using stories in all different types of classroom settings; with deaf and hearing children, those with special educational needs and those learning English as a second language.

In this section we’ll include tips from teachers working in mainstream, deaf and special schools in the UK and abroad and we’ll recommend stories to use in your lessons. This section will be updated regularly so keep checking for new books and ideas.

Teachers in the UK are using Signed Stories to plan and deliver the National Curriculum at Key Stage One and Key Stage Two – teachers from a Dunbar school explain how Signed Stories helps them meet National Curriculum targets.

The website is also available for parents and families to enjoy with their children, creating the possibility for real synergy between home and school.
