We are grateful to the many celebrities from all walks of life who have lent their support to Signed Stories. Respected role models are equally important to deaf children!
The aim of this constantly expanding website is simple – to improve the literacy of deaf children through sharing in the stimulation of storytelling and reading.
The education gap between deaf and hearing children at GCSE has widened. We hope that over time Signed Stories will help close that gap by providing a fun bridge to the world of contemporary books.
Our website – fully accessible in sign, sound, pictures and text - is an inclusive viewing experience for ALL the family. And the messages on it from our supporters make it an even more vibrant place to spend time, creating a broader community.
Braille brought books to blind people in 1821. Broadband technology is bringing sign language to the Internet for the deaf community, making all kinds of information, education and entertainment accessible for the first time.

Sponsors – Please join us!
An increasing number of stories on Signed Stories are sponsored in perpetuity.
Over time, we need sponsorship for every story so that we can keep bringing new books to the website.
A £5000 donation allows us to acquire, produce and upload a new book, and contributes to the maintenance and expansion of the website.
Our initial target is to make 300 of the best of British books available, free, for children, schools and parents. Many hearing children will be website visitors too.
We thank those companies and organisations which have already contributed to Signed Stories.
If you would like to join this broad partnership trying to make a difference for the nation’s deaf children, please contact us by email for further information.
