Solving technical problems

If you’re having problems accessing Signed Stories, please accept our apologies – and please let us know. Our aim is to ensure that the site is accessible by everyone everywhere.
 
Check this first
In some cases, you may be able to remedy an error yourself: 
  1. Do you have Flash Player? Is it the latest version? – if not, download it for free here.
  2. Do you have javascript enabled on your web browser? To find out how to enable it, visit the free Microsoft website.
 
Is it a ‘firewall’ problem?
Some users, particularly those accessing from schools, may experience problems viewing the website because of their firewall restrictions. Please inform your IT department. They can grant access to the media servers which provide the videos by allowing access to these IP addresses:

If you’re still having problems, you can help us determine what’s causing them by running two tests on your computer – they should only take about five minutes, and won’t harm your computer or pass on sensitive information to us.

Video quality
We are trying to cater for a broad range of connections so everyone can enjoy Signed Stories. If you're experiencing low video quality, it’s likely that you're being delivered a lower bitrate version of the video which is more suitable for your connection. The picture might be clearer if you watch the story in the player rather than in the full screen mode.
